------------
SFHEADER is being distributed through the shareware concept. You
may use SFHEADER for an Evaluation period of 30 days. If at that
time you decide you want it, please take the time to register it.
You may distribute as many copies of SFHEADER as you wish, as long
as the programs within the archive are not modified in any way.
The latest version of SFHEADER as well as SPITFIRE and other
SPITFIRE Utilities can always be downloaded from :
The Hawaiian Hawke BBS Node 1
(602)272-4887
1200-19200 Baud
USR HST Courier 14400
Once your registration for SFHEADER is recieved, you will also be
given access to Node 2, which is running a Practical Peripherals
14400 FXSA v32bis modem.
Disclaimer:
----------
The Authors of this program, and/or Hawke Software Systems shall
in no way be held responsible for any damage incurred while operating
SFHEADER. All responsibility lies with the user of the software.
Purpose:
-------
This program was created for the purpose of making File
area headers which includes the information of how many files
are contained within a particular directory, along with a byte count,
and Date the listing was last updated by the sysop. Sfheader now
offers the capability to Generate FILST<xxx>.BBS/.CLR screens in the
Unregistered Version. This software has been designed to work with
The SPITFIRE Bulletin Board System.
Spitfire is written by Mike Woltz, Buffalo Creek Software.
It is an Excellent BBS package that I would recommend to
anyone.
Usage:
-----
This program can be run from your any directory which is in your path,
assuming that your SFPATH environment is set. If you do not have this
environment set, all you need to do is add the following command line
to your autoexec.bat file:
SET SFPATH=C:\SF
I used c:\sf for the directory in the example, but obviously, it should
be set for your particular system's configuration. If you do not wish to
add this statement to your autoexec.bat file, then the program WILL have
to be run from the Spitfire system directory. The 10, 20, and 999 after the
word SFHEADER below signifies the Different Security Levels that can be
used on the command line to generate the FILST<xxx>.BBS/CLR Screens. For
Example SFHEADER 10 20 999 would generate FILST screens for Level 10, 20,
and 999. If you do not want these screens to be generated, simply leave
these Parameters out.
To test run SFHEADER, assuming the environment is NOT set, place SFHEADER
in your SF system directory. Then simply type
SFHEADER.exe 10 20 999
If the SFPATH has been set in your autoexec.bat file, then just copy
SFHEADER to any directory that is in your path, and then type SFHEADER,
and after seeing a brief opening screen, all of your SPITFIRE Area
Directory files (SFFiles.BBS) will be read, and a new header will
preface each such file listing with the following information:
╒═════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕
│ Area 9 ─ Spitfire BBS & Utilities │

SF-HEADER now will support up to 2000 files per area (Pertains to Both
registered, and unregistered versions), will also NOT make backups
of your sffiles.bbs if this is what you wish, and the REGISTERED Version
now gives the Sysop 3 lines to configure as they wish. The 3 lines that
are configurable are marked as 3,4,5 above to the right of the box.
**** NOTE ****
You MUST run SFHDRCFG.exe to create your "Customized" header config file.
The Unregistered Version will not allow the configurability that the
registered version has. Also, The SFHEADER program can be run from ANY
AREA in your path, as long as the SFPATH variable is set. Also, be sure
that your newly created SFHEADER.CFG file is in the same dir as your
sfheader.exe program, or the directory where you are running it from,
or it will not work properly.
For example, I have my sfheader.exe program in a directory that is in my
path, and I run my sfheader from my ram drive to speed things up,so I
always have a copy of my sfheader.cfg file in my ram drive.
**** The above paragraph pertains to registered versions only. ****
That's all there is to it. The program will not process any
file areas that do not contain an sffiles.bbs file listing.
The original sffiles.bbs listing will be renamed to
sffiles.bak, and the newly created sffiles.bbs created by
SFHEADER will be your new listing. When totaling files in the
directory, this program WILL NOT count the sffiles.bbs & .bak
in its total, nor will it count its byte size.
This program can best be utilized by running it from a batch file,
which might look something like this:
c:
cd\sf
sfheader.exe 10 20 50 999
goto loop
** NOTE **
This example is assuming that the program is registered, and
running as an event. With the UNREGISTERED version, there is a short
delay, requiring the input of a carriage return to initiate
operation.
** END OF NOTE **
The Filst<xxx>.bbs screens are Generated by adding the security Levels
to the command line. This feature is fully operational in the
Unregistered version. Sfheader will put the FILST<xxx> screens in
your display directory that you have configured in Spitfire. Also, if
an area is set for YES to Preview, then sfheader will include that area
in the necessary FILST screens.
******** REMEMBER ********
There must be an existing sffiles.bbs in the directory being
processed or the area will not be affected by SFHEADER.
If you have any comments, problems, or questions about this
program, I can be reached by Crash Mail, through the Third
